“Abraham lifted his eyes and he saw three strangers standing a short distance from him. When he saw [them] from the entrance of his tent, he ran to greet them, bowing down to the ground.” VaYera 18:2
The angels visiting Avraham are Guardian Angels, a familiar scene on the streets of New York City.
Part of the Haftarah (the prophetic reading that accompanies the Torah reading) is also represented by the vessels surrounding the tent: “Go, he said, “and borrow vessels outside, from all your neighbors, empty vessels, as many as you can.”” Melachim 4:1
