2012 20”w, 16”h collage
“el derecho” is the name for a weather pattern that reached the East Coast/mid-Atlantic region for the first time in July, 2012. This weather phenomenon was not known to residents of this part of the US and we didn’t know what to call it. The name “el derecho” also means “justice” in Spanish, which arguably, was a fitting name and is illustrated by the familiar image of the scales of justice.
