2017 watercolour, collage
The initial inspiration was a mural on the side of a house with a garden plot in North Philly photographed by Foer. Out of dozens of photos she could have chosen to depict urban decay, this image most captivated her. It reminded the artist of the letter blocks in typeface boxes, which connects to Benjamin Franklin’s printing press. Foer comments “If Franklin had a #3-D printer, he would be printing solar flowers for urban gardeners to tend.”
